I have a dirty little secret. It's not the kind of thing I can tell my jazz musician friends or mention in polite company. My name is James Taylor and I am a Bluegrass fan.
It all started when I began working with a US company called ArtistWorks, the leaders in online music education and the people behind the ArtistWorks Academy of Bluegrass. I should have known I would like bluegrass having been brought up in Scotland where the genre traces its roots back to via the Apalachian mountains. Over recent months I've had the good pleasure of working with some of the leading names in bluegrass music including Tony Trischka, Bryan Sutton, Darol Anger, Mike Marshall and Missy Raines.
It's gone on from there to exploring Progressive Bluegrass or Newgrass with bands like The Punch Brothers and The Infamous Stringdusters. Check out these videos if you haven't already got the Bluegrass bug.
