Creativity

I'm just here for a very short visit. But one of the nice things is I get to meet up with some friends, and other great speakers here who live in Stockholm, to speak on creativity and innovation. And also, while I'm here, I had the opportunity to meet with Sir John Cleese of Monty Python fame. There's a hotel, that stood out when I'm here called the Grand Hotel, which is where the Nobel Prize winners stay. And I just happen to bump into him in the, in the lobby there, and I was talking to him about creativity. And he has a wonderful video, I'll put a link here to it as well, where he talks about the use of the analogy of with creativity of the camera lens. And he said that the thing is, what we need to do is we need to the certain type types of our work, our creative work, we need to have it really focused on what we're trying to do. But other times, that actually kind of goes against what we're trying to do, and we actually need to D focus the lens.

Now, someone asked me the other day, can you measure creativity? And I said, Absolutely. There's one test called the Torrance Test, which measures creativity and basically, it measures divergent and convergent thinking, convergent thinking is where you can bring everything together as combat-focused, and divergent thinking is where you kind of defocus a little bit, and you kind of expansive in your thinking, but here's the thing. Both are required for creative thinking, both divergent and creative, focused and unfocused. And I'll also make sure I put a link here so you can check out that great creativity talk from Sir John Cleese.
