Hi, it's James Taylor, keynote speaker and founder of SuperCreativityU.
I was having a conversation with a client the other day, they brought me into the keynote at their big annual conference for all of their employees. This is a company, they're in the construction business, in building homes, and they're in North America. And I was having a conversation with them about what their key challenges are, what's keeping them awake at night, the senior managers. And they said, James, our biggest challenge just now is about retaining and bringing in new talent, we can't hire enough people just now. And this was a thing I think we're gonna see more and more as we start to come out of the pandemic. Now, there are two challenges that this relates to. And I think these are important things for you to be thinking about just now,

People Are Leaving For New Job Opportunities
The first is a stat that I saw the other day, which blew my mind, which said that over 50% of employees in North America are looking for a new job to change jobs this year. Think about that. That means that if your organization is an example of that, over 50% of the people in your organization are thinking about leaving your company and going somewhere else. So even if that number is overstated, 50% then less even it was like 40% or 30%, even 25%. That is a massive churn of people. That is a huge HR, headache. You've got to lose people, you're losing institutional knowledge, you having to bring on new people, find new people, train them onboard them. Creativity And Innovation Are Critical
But the second point that relates to like, Well, why are these people leaving? What's where they are going? How can you ensure that your organization is attracting that best out because we are in a war for talent? Now there's a global competition for talent. And it was a stat I saw the other day, which said that 66% of millennials say that when deciding which employer to go and work for that creativity and innovation are critical in making that decision, is that organization seen as being creative is a creative work environment that you're working in, is an organization is seen as innovative innovation is a very important value for a lot of millennial workers just now. But even outside of millennial workers, if you go to the other generations of workers, you often find this idea of working alongside people in a creative environment is getting more and more important, especially as we start to come together, we come back into office buildings again, but even when you're working virtually. -How To Attract And Retain The Best Talent to Your Company
So think about that for a moment. Ask yourself just now in your own organization. Have you created a culture, a creative culture in your organization, where those workers who are in there just now are feeling that they're empowered, they're in that culture of creativity, they're empowered to be innovative, whether that's a small kind of innovation or bigger innovations? And also think about this from the perspective of if you're looking to hire a lot of people in the next 12 months, those workers in the global competition for talent, they're going to be looking to work for organizations about creativity and innovation right at the top.
