That’s 3 billion people who have never bought, uploaded or sold anything online and I believe it represents one of the greatest periods of opportunity for you and I.

These people are being called ‘The Rising Billions’.

In today’s episode I want to introduce you to the paradigm shift you need to make if you want to share your message with these Rising Billions and build a global business as a speaker, author, performer, thought-leader or entrepreneur.

In today’s episode I want to introduce you to the paradigm shift you need to make if you want to share your message with these Rising Billions and build a global business as a speaker, author, performer, thought-leader or entrepreneur.

Now here’s the thing about these Rising Billions, this new online audience from countries in Asia, Africa and South America. When they want to find the experts and thought-leaders to inspire, educate and entertain them they go online first.

What message do you want to share with them?

You see in previous times it was the book, the written form, that was the medium of the authority or expert. To be seen as an authority on a topic you had to be an author. But today most Gen Z or young millennials go online, to Instagram, YouTube or Weibo to discover their authorities on a topic.

And here’s the really good news. You are as unknown to these Rising Billions as a Jack Canfield, a Tony Robbins or most of the leading thought-leaders in your field.

The biggest challenge you have in ensuring your message, product or service reaches the rising billions is discoverability.

The other night I was watching Oprah Winfrey speech at the Golden Globe Awards? It was an incredible speech and I encourage you to check it out.

But how did she end up speaking on that stage that night? How did we discover Oprah? For the past 20 years television brought The Oprah Winfrey Show into millions of living rooms as she interviewed other experts and thought-leaders who shared ideas on how to live your best life.

You see there are different ways to build authority. One way is the “how I” model where you share with others you achieved success in your topic or field. Another way is the “how-to” model where you act as guide and share how you and others have achieved success.

In order to spread your message to the millions and the billions it requires that you learn from Oprah. That as speakers we need to move from just being the Sage on the Stage to also being the Guide on the Side.

Audiences need to see you as the authority on your topic not because you have all the answers but that you can also connect them to the experts that have answers. That you are the trusted guide people turn to in order to scale their own personal mountains.
