Sandy Gennaro is a Nashville based drummer, speaker, teacher and author who over the last 50 years has worked with some of the biggest names in pop and rock. These include Cyndi Lauper, Joan Jett, Bo Diddly, Johnny Winter, Michael Bolton, Robin Gibb and The Monkees. Since 2007 Gennaro has been a frequent counsellor at David Fishof’s Rock and Roll Fantasy Camps but you would be wrong if you thought he came late to teaching. For 27 years he taught drums at The Collective in New York City before moving to Nashville where he still maintains a private teaching practice. As a public speaker he has given motivational talks for FedEx, Belmont University, Guitar Center and Sam Ash.
Sandy Gennaro talks to us about leaving the The Pat Travers Band, being an established speaker, recording in Nashville, preparing for the Dick Wagner memorial concert "Remember The Child" and a lot of wonderful projects to come. He shares with us his story on how he got his very first brand new drum set and about his Mom who is obviously very proud of him.
"You never stop learning. When you think you know everything about something or about someone that's the beginning of the end."
"With enthusiasm, have fun doing it, and feel good about yourself after you've done it."
