Just watched a very interesting video of psychologist Mark van Vugt fusing evolutionary history and science to show how the evolution of leadership affects us all. Some interesting ideas I took from it include:
- That democracy may have started in the African savannah and not in Greece.
- The reason human brains may be larger than other species is that we have to deal with larger social groups than other species.
- There is a tendency for people to choose the taller candidate. Does this relate to our evolution?
- That children can more accurately guess which candidate will win than adults.
